Currently we have a short-term, special project awarded to select early-career investigators who are exploring how best to engage patients and families in their care. This portfolio of awards sets out to identify individuals and institutions at the forefront of patient and family engagement research at every level of care. Whether it is medical treatment inside or outside the hospital, each setting is unique and requires a different approach for meaningful engagement. Through the work of these individuals, we hope to uncover and understand these differences so we can see new innovations created and existing practices implemented that improve the experience and outcomes of patient care. Other work in this area has included the development of a Roadmap for Patient + Family Engagement in Healthcare Practice and Research.
