Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
Founded in 1945, Kaiser Permanente is the largest nonprofit managed health care organization in the United States. A community of 17,000 physicians provides clinical care to more than 10 million people across seven regions that span eight states and the District of Columbia. The system includes 38 hospitals and 619 medical offices and outpatient facilities. Research centers exist in each region and faculty lead clinical trials, translate bench findings into practice and conduct studies to improve the health outcomes of members and the community.
The organization’s Sidney Garfield Innovation Center is the largest health care innovation center in the country, inspiring the people of Kaiser Permanente to explore new clinical solutions, e-health options, emergency response scenarios and future facilities planning. The Center for Total Health is an educational venue with interactive exhibits, state-of-the-art health technology and a conference center to demonstrate to policymakers, the public and the health care industry the best practices in U.S. health care.
Our funding to Kaiser has supported numerous research and clinical practice projects to improve nursing care, reduce surgical complications and measure outcomes for various transitional care models for elders.
