Established in 1868, Holy Names University in Oakland, California, is a progressive, inclusive and rigorous academic community offering a liberal arts and professional education. Holy Names University is a private university affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church and administered by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

Holy Names maintains small class sizes and has been rated a "best value" university by U.S. News & World Report. The university offers 19 undergraduate degree programs, seven master’s degree programs and four adult degree completion programs. Included are nursing degrees at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels and three nursing certification programs.
