University of Chicago

The University of Chicago, a private research university, is one of the world's premier academic and research institutions. Founded in 1890 by John D. Rockefeller, the university consists of an undergraduate college, a range of graduate programs, interdisciplinary committees and seven professional schools. The university enrolls almost 6,000 undergraduates and over 9,500 graduate, professional and other students, and employs over 2,000 full-time faculty. The university’s professional schools include the Pritzker School of Medicine, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, the Law School, the School of Social Service Administration, the Harris School of Public Policy Studies, the Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies and the Divinity School.

The University of Chicago’s scholars lead the country in scientific and technological innovations, often in partnership with the school’s affiliated laboratories. Research at the university has resulted in notable breakthroughs, such as discovering the link between cancer and genetics, establishing revolutionary theories of economics and developing tools for state-of-the-art urban schooling.

Our work with the University of Chicago ranges from the development of the Open Science Date Cloud to help scientists manage and share their data, to the development of a polarization-sensitive camera for the South Pole Telescope.
