Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
Serving the entire Boston area, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is an academic medical center that provides clinical care, conducts biomedical research, trains medical students and promotes the health and wellness of the greater community. Nearly all of its 1,250 medical staff is on faculty at Harvard Medical School. The center has set national standards for how health data can be used to improve care and was the first in the country to achieve meaningful use of electronic medical records. Patient care is facilitated through comprehensive care centers that allow physicians from multiple disciplines to work together to provide coordinated care for people with cancers, digestive diseases and cardiovascular problems.
Research activity focuses on “bench-to-bedside” applications, where basic lab science informs clinical research and transforms medical practice. Clinical education facilitates academic and professional advancement for faculty and ensures that the next generation of physicians are prepared using the latest medical and surgical technologies.
