Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
Founded in 1852, Mills College is an independent liberal arts college located in the foothills of Oakland, California, on the east shore of the San Francisco Bay. Historically a women’s-only college, Mills now accepts men into its graduate programs. More than 1,400 students from 43 states and 12 countries are taught by 200 faculty members.
The college prides itself on an intimate academic experience with a student-to-faculty ratio of 10 to 1 and an average class size of 15 students. The top five undergraduate majors include English, psychology, economics, biology and political, legal and economic analysis. A partnership with nearby Samuel Merritt College offers an intercollegiate Baccalaureate of Science in nursing degree and a direct pathway to Samuel Merritt’s two-year Nursing Theory and Clinical Program.
