The University of Washington is a public research university with campuses in Seattle, Tacoma, and Bothell, as well as a world-class academic medical center in Seattle. Founded in 1861, the university is one of the oldest on the West Coast and enrolls more than 54,000 students annually. Its vision is to educate a diverse student body to become responsible global citizens and future leaders through a challenging learning environment informed by cutting-edge scholarship.

The university offers 280 programs and more than 440 degree options for undergraduate, graduate and professional students. Federal research funding for the university is over $1 billion, more than any other American public university, a ranking it has held since 1974.

Our work with the University of Washington spans dozens of grants and includes support to the Department of Engineering to develop the electronic sequencing of DNA, the establishment of an international program for the study of Pacific salmon biodiversity and investigator awards in a variety of fields.
