Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
This grant to the Alaska Conservation Foundation extends protection of the intact ecosystems of southeastern Alaska's national forests and southwestern Alaska's Bristol Bay region. Outcomes for this grant include decreased Tongass timber sales, increased national support and sportfishing/hunting community support for permanent protection of 13 million acres of Tongass and Chugach National Forests, initiation of groundwork for creating a sustainable economy in the Tongass region, and mobilization of local support for reinstating a drilling moratorium in Bristol Bay.
