This grant supports the Living Oceans Society to partner with a team of scientists to conduct a series of research dives to further describe the functional role of British Columbia’s deep sea corals within the coastal-marine ecosystem. The grant will facilitate science-based interim protection efforts for deep sea corals and unite fisheries management and Area-Based Management (ABM) in the Pacific North Coast Integrated Management Area (PNCIMA) process.
