Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County protects working and natural lands with high conservation value to ensure future clean water supplies, wildlife habitats and open space. Since its inception in 1978, the trust has protected 13,100 acres of land through title acquisition, conservation easements and partnerships with other groups.
In 2011, a Conservation Blueprint for Santa Cruz County was developed calling for the protection of an additional 50,000 acres that will guide work for the next quarter century. Projects include 45 miles of new trails, permanent protection of 400 acres of farmland, protection of 1,300 acres of wildlife land and a 32-mile paved coastal bike and pedestrian trail
Our work with the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County ranges from protecting the Sandhills habitat to supporting land acquisition of property along Highway 17 that will allow construction of an under-crossing vital to the wildlife corridor.
