Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
Established in 1976, the Land Trust of Napa County is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to preserving the character of Napa by permanently protecting land. Through conservation easements, acquisition and property transfers, the organization has protected more than 55,000 acres of land—10 percent of Napa County.
The nationally accredited trust partners with local, state and federal agencies and organizations, including parks departments and other nonprofits, to acquire land for public use. Its protected areas include agricultural lands (farms and ranches), eight public parks and recreation areas, wilderness spaces, 50 miles of waterways and permanent preserves. The organization sponsors field trip and volunteer workday programs to connect the community to the land and the annual Acre by Acre award to honor significant land conservation achievements of individuals and organizations.
Our work with the Napa County Land Trust has helped to protect ranch lands near Lake Berryessa and other area properties.
