Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
The Bank Information Center works to influence the World Bank and other international financial institutions to promote social and economic justice and ecological sustainability. Through partnerships with local communities and organizations around the world, the center ensures that the voice of the people is included in regional development decisions. The organization uses information dissemination and capacity-building, project and policy monitoring and advocacy to accomplish its goals.
Based in Washington, D.C., activities are organized into five regions–Asia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa. One priority is to hold the Work Bank and others accountable to their safeguard commitments of ending poverty and boosting shared prosperity. Ensuring timely release and widespread access to World Bank documents is another priority. Other efforts address specific challenges, such as rainforest conservation and community engagement in the context of international development.
