Since 1985, the Grand Canyon Trust has been dedicated to Grand Canyon and Colorado Plateau conservation and environmental advocacy.
With offices across the plateau, the trust has cultivated and maintains extensive connections with policymakers, land managers, scientists and community leaders. It draws on legal leverage, science and public policy expertise to win important environmental cases and to create solutions to protect and restore the Colorado Plateau. The organization boasts a national membership of more than 4,000 and 450 active seasonal volunteers who assist with conservation projects.
The Grand Canyon Trust’s reach spans the Colorado Plateau, including the Greater Grand Canyon, the Canyonlands region, the Grand Staircase, Mogollon, Navajo/Hopi, High Plateaus, San Juan and Uintah. Programs include the Energy Program which safeguards the plateau’s landscapes from destructive uranium mining and milling. The Water Program works to protect and ensure the sustainable future of the plateau’s water resources. And the Land Program works to protect and restore the health of lands across the Grand Canyon region and greater Colorado Plateau, by employing public advocacy, private transactions and collaborative relationships.
