Founded in 1970, the Natural Resources Defense Council uses law, science and the support of more than two million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. With offices in New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Beijing and Bozeman, Montana, its staff of almost 500 lawyers, scientists and other professionals work with businesses, elected leaders and community groups on the world’s most pressing environmental and public health problems.

The international organization’s six main priorities are: curbing global warming and creating the clean energy future, reviving the world’s oceans, defending endangered wildlife and wild spaces, protecting our health by preventing pollution, ensuring safe and sufficient water and fostering sustainable communities. Its policy publications include research reports, legislative analyses, issue briefs, fact sheets, testimony and commentary, and blog posts from its experts. The organization also publishes the quarterly onEarth magazine, which bills itself as a “survival guide for the planet.”

Our work with the National Resources Defense Council ranges from minimizing Pacific groundfish bycatch to integrating ecosystem-based management principles into ocean planning and development.
