The Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment, established in 1992 and based in Oakland, California, is a public charity that seeks to nurture positive interactions between communities, the environment and the economy through grantmaking, research and advocacy.

The foundation’s mission is to support grassroots initiatives to inspire community action to protect the environment, consumers and public health. Annually, the foundation raises money through donations, grants, legal restitution payments, and other funds to award as grants to qualified organizations. Additionally, the organization invests in youth leadership and environmental justice programs.

The foundation’s programs include the New Voices Are Rising program, which aims to increase civic participation within underrepresented communities, increase young people’s commitment to environmental justice and reduce air and water pollution that severely impact both human health and the health of the San Francisco Bay.
