Founded in 1919, the American Geophysical Union (AGU) is a nonprofit association supporting Earth and space scientists. With 62,000 members residing in 140 different countries, AGU hosts an international network of scientists with a wide-range of disciplinary focuses. AGU’s core principles include advancing the benefit of science for a sustainable future, taking an active role in educating and nurturing the next generation of scientists, and recognizing the importance of communicating science to the public. They work to promote and exemplify an inclusive scientific culture, catalyze scientific discovery, and develop solutions to scientific and societal challenges through scientific inquiry and broad partnerships with other organizations. AGU publishes numerous scientific journals and books, provides professional development opportunities, and advances community solutions that help scientists and communities sponsors collaborate to address local challenges.
