Community Initiatives is a San Francisco-based organization that provides fiscal sponsorship to projects that contribute to or create public good. As a fiscal sponsor, the organization offers financial, management and organizational infrastructure and a secure mechanism for donors, allowing nonprofit organizations and projects to focus on their purpose. Community Initiatives sponsors a wide range of efforts benefitting arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services, advocacy and social justice goals.
Initially founded as a project of the San Francisco Foundation in 1996, Community Initiatives became an independent organization in 2008. Over 100 projects are active in its portfolio.
