Marine Affairs Research and Education works with coastal and marine resource managers in more than 120 countries. Through a range of activities, including online information exchanges, trainings, webinars and community-building techniques, the organization helps ocean planners network and stay informed about best practices and trends in the field.

Examples of the organization’s work include The MPA News and MEAM (Marine Ecosystem and Management)—publications on ocean planning, marine protected areas and ecosystem-based management. Marine Debris is a digital community of practice for sharing knowledge on research, management and prevention of ocean litter. Open Channels is an online networking hub for marine scientists, resource managers, policymakers, industry, conservation organizations and other stakeholders and includes weekly email bulletins, live chats and a clearinghouse of literature and news items.
