Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
The Forever Costa Rica Association, founded in 2009 and headquartered in San Jose, is the administrator of Irrevocable Trust Forever Costa Rica, whose purpose is to contribute to the financing of the system of terrestrial and marine protected areas in Costa Rica.
The association manages the public-private conservation initiative developed by the Costa Rican government and partnering foundations. The collective aim is to consolidate a marine and terrestrial protected areas system that is ecologically representative, effectively managed and supported by a stable funding source.
The goals of the Forever Costa Rica Association range from increasing biodiversity in protected terrestrial and marine territories, to ensuring that 100 percent of marine protected areas have effective and efficient planning and management tools and developing an adaptation strategy for protected terrestrial areas against potential impacts caused by climate change on biodiversity and services.
