Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
Formed in 1992, the Associação de Defesa Etnoambiental Kanindé works with the indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau people to prevent deforestation and manage tropical forests in Rondônia, a state in northwestern Brazil.
The organization collects data on the Uru-eu-wau-wau and Pacaás Novos National Park, prepares environmental impact studies, and advises on indigenous land management. Kanindé also leads environmental education efforts, monitors public policies and advocates for the region and its people.
