For increasing scientific understanding of the ecology and management of Sudden Oak Death in coastal forests of California. Funding will be used to conduct basic and applied research on the disease and its causal pathogen, Phytophthora ramorum. Research findings will be used to develop recommendations for disease control and land management, and to provide outreach to homeowners, land managers, and policy makers to facilitate implementation of the best management options.
