Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
The purpose of this grant to the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center is the addition of compute and storage infrastructure to manage and analyze the large quantities of data produced by the breakthrough Pixel Array Detector (PAD) addition to the Molecular Observatory (Beam Line 12-2). The coupling of high speed storage and computing power to the advanced PAD will make possible new, real-time types of data collection strategies and experiment modifications, producing scientific results that would not otherwise be obtainable.
