For more than ten years, indigenous communities, conservation groups, and funders including the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation have been working to help create a spectacular national park in Peru, Sierra del Divisor. On Sunday, November 8, Peru will officially designate the new 1.3 million hectare park -- heralded as the "Yellowstone of the Amazon."

“The creation of the Sierra del Divisor National Park is a historic event,” said Peru’s Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal. “It is a confirmation of the Peruvian government’s commitment to conservation, sustainable development and the fight against climate change.”
