Supporters of California's vast state parks system are making it easier to avoid the black Friday lines and pull yourself out of a food coma the day after Thanksgiving. Under a program announced last week, the California state parks department and two San Francisco environmental groups — Save the Redwoods League and the California State Parks Foundation — will provide 13,000 free vehicle day-use passes that the public can use on Friday, November 25.
"California's state park system includes everything from towering redwoods to sandy beaches, along with 4,500 miles of hiking trails."
For more information about the program and a full list of participating parks, see the full story by Paul Rogers in the San Jose Mercury News: Free admission to 116 California state parks on Friday after Thanksgiving.
