Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution researchers have discovered a new way to "pump up" plankton that trap carbon dioxide and drag it to the depths of the ocean.
Understanding the mechanism behind this so-called biological pump could provide a clearer understanding of CO2 absorption in the ocean. This work was funded by grant GBMF3301.
