Last week, Origem Sustainable Sourcing published a new report, Towards Sustainable Leather Sourcing, that summarizes conclusions that were reached during the May, 2016 Paris Smart Sourcing Leather Workshop hosted by the Kering Group.

In addition to highlighting the conclusions reached during the workshop, the report also indicates further work required to achieve sustainable beef leather supply chains.

“The [Paris Smart Sourcing Leather Workshop] fostered knowledge sharing among over 50 participants including academics, environmental associations and the private sector. Focused on the challenges of traceability, animal welfare and sourcing beef leather both within and outside of Europe, the workshop is part of an ongoing project aimed at steering the beef leather industry toward more sustainable practices.”

The foundation was happy to support this report, as part of an ongoing commitment to cultivating production of key deforestation-free agricultural commodities through the Forests and Agricultural Markets Initiative
