With support, in part, from a grant through our Wild Salmon Ecosystems Initiative to improve salmon decision support tools in Alaska, The Nature Conservancy and its partners have now documented 28,000 more miles of streams in the 25,000 square mile Mat-Su watershed than previously mapped. The Mat-Su region is adjacent to Anchorage, in one of the more populated areas of Alaska. For context, the newly discovered stream miles are enough to wrap around the equator.
