With partial support from the Moore Foundation, Woods Hole Research Center recently co-authored a study that showed the climatological impact of the deforestation taking place in the Cerrado region of Brazil. The study shows dramatic deforestation already widespread in the Amazon, has also been greatly affecting the neighboring Cerrado for several years; seeing cropland rapidly replacing native vegetation.
