This summer, with funding from the Moore Foundation, the Trust for Public Land and several other partners finalized a deal to transfer coastal land back to the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians. The new Kashia Coastal Reserve includes a conservation easement on the 700+ acres, and a second easement held by Sonoma County Parks that allows for the California Coastal Trail to pass through the property. Returning after 150 years to their home on the California Coast, the Kashia are again the stewards of this stunning expanse of Northern California coastal prairie and redwood and Douglas fir forest.
The Trust for Public Land highlighted the project in Land + People and featured the project in their own video here.
