The Trust for Public Land, in partnership with the Land Trust of Napa County, has protected one of the largest and highest conservation value private properties in all of Napa County.
The Moore Foundation supported the Trust for Public Land in its acquisition of this land area that is crucial to the biodiversity of Napa County, and beloved by visitors around the world.
As Dan Winterson, program officer for the San Francisco Bay Area Program put it: “The Napa County transaction recently finalized by the Trust for Public Land is a landmark conservation achievement in the Bay Area in its own right due to its size, biodiversity, and water resources. This deal also encompasses our program’s three major strategies: natural resource use practices, through the easement terms; conservation finance, through the carbon transaction component; and property acquisition, which will hopefully allow for a portion of this spectacular property to become open to the public.”
The featured video below is the next in a series, highlighting the many San Francisco Bay Area Program grantees and their partners who are helping ensure the special character of the Bay Area endures for future generations.
