Last night, foundation president Harvey Fineberg was featured on KALW radio’s show City Visions, along with Richard Allen, director of the Berkeley Seismological Laboratory, to discuss the importance of an earthquake early warning system on the west coast. Both guests provided insight on the existing technology behind the earthquake early warning system, and how its already proven effective in reducing the impact of earthquakes. The state of California has acknowledged the earthquake early warning system as a priority issue, with Jerry Brown’s recent announcement to allocate a portion of the state budget towards improving the system.
