The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation (www.moore.org) today announced the appointment of Alison Barad as Associate Director of Private Equity for its $6 billion investments portfolio. Alison Barad, an investment professional at the Foundation, was promoted to Associate Director, succeeding former Director, Denise Strack. Strack was recently appointed as the Foundation’s Chief Investment Officer.
“Alison has demonstrated immense capabilities while at the Foundation. Her work exhibits the highest levels of professionalism, integrity, and ability. She has been an instrumental member of the private equity team over the last year, developing key relationships and understandings that will support our private equity portfolio going forward,” said Strack.
Barad will assume leadership of the Foundation’s private equity portfolio, which has a long-term target allocation of 12% of the Foundation’s assets.
Previously, Barad served as an Associate on the Foundation’s private equity team. Prior to joining the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Barad was in the mergers and acquisitions practice in the Investment Banking Division at Morgan Stanley in New York. Barad also served as a Development Officer at Paul Newman’s Association of Hole in the Wall Camps. Barad holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, magna cum laude.
