Fifteen years ago, America’s vast $50 million Pacific groundfish fishery, which stretched some 1,200 miles from Southern California to the Canadian border, collapsed. Several critical fish species had dropped to below one-quarter of their natural, un-fished levels.

This issue of overfishing has been seen across the world. In her recent New York Times opinion column, How Dwindling Fish Stocks got a Reprieve, Sylvia Rowley discusses this issue, and how fish stock are now feeling some relief.
