The Cape Cod Commercial Fisherman’s Alliance started as a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization of about a dozen fishermen. This year, they are happy to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

The alliance now represents 95 Cape fishermen, including 60 who are voting members. It has grown into one of the most influential grassroots fishing organizations in the region and the country.

Denny Takahashi-Kelso, program director for the Marine Conservation Initiative at the Moore Foundation explains “There’s been a real commitment to working with the Alliance because they have not only a strong community base, but are so committed to a sustainable future for commercial fishermen, especially to small boats and their communities.”
