With support from the foundation’s Andes-Amazon Initiative, IUCN-South America has published a new analysis of research by specialists in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela that identifies best practices and success criteria for management of protected areas in the Amazon.

In the report, readers will find a brief history of the past decade of conservation, including trends sand events that marked conceptual advances in protected area management. It also details several case studies by country – investigating methodologies, policies and initiatives used over ten years and extracting lessons for future discussions about effective conservation strategies across the biome.
