Through grants to Caltech and Stanford, the Moore Foundation has been supporting a proof of concept for a vertical-axis wind turbine farm in the village of Igiugig, to address high energy costs as both a barrier to sustainable economic development and a driver of ecosystem degradation in rural Alaska.
