Latin America Program

This grant supports the Wildlife Conservation Society's work to strengthen new and existing protected areas in the Amazon Basin. Outcomes include protection of biodiversity in Mamiraua-Amana and Piagacu-Purus sustainable development reserves, Madidi, Kaa-Iya del Gran Chaco, and Yasuni-Napo landscapes (conserving a total of 10.22 million hectares); establishment of the Yavari Valley protected area (1.5 million hectares); and enhancement of community-based protection of the Caura watershed (4.5 million hectares).
