To identify, implement and sustain operational improvements in one San Francisco Bay Area and one Greater Sacramento hospital, with the goal of improving the work environment for medical-surgical registered nurses (RNs) and increasing the time RNs spend on patient care activities and in the patient room. This grant leverages and implements the findings of the "A 36-Hospital Time and Motion Study: How do Medical-Surgical Nurses Spend their Time?" research study co-funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
