The Skeena River in British Columbia is the region’s second largest river, and remains largely undeveloped. It houses diverse wild salmon populations, but for decades there have been differing views on how best to manage wild Pacific Salmon in the face of habitat loss and increasing major developments.

To tackle this issue, the Pacific Salmon Foundation developed the Pacific Salmon Explorer: a customized, online data visualization platform that provides a much deeper understanding of the information that exists on the Skeena watershed. The tool includes a clickable map where users can find key information about the 55 unique local salmon populations in the area.
