Remote exploration of the ocean depths off New Zealand

A Deep Environmental Sample Processor (Deep-ESP), built with partial support from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, has been launched in New Zealand, as a collaboration between Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute and the Center for Ocean Solutions.  DEEP-ESPs offer a new way to explore the ocean depths to collect and study microbes.
