Purpose
This grant to the California Institute of Technology provides $7.5 million of additional funds to complete the Design Development Phase (DDP) of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) by March 2009. The TMT goal is to construct the first of the next-generation giant optical/infrared ground-based telescopes. This grant is paired with an identical award to the University of California.
