Underwater robot being tested in NZ

A Deep Environmental Sample Processor (Deep-ESP), built with partial support from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, has been launched in New Zealand, as a collaboration between Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute and the Center for Ocean Solutions. DEEP-ESPs offer a new way to explore the ocean depths to collect and study microbes. To read more about the exploration and watch ESP_Gordon in action, click here.
