Primary Citation: Miller and Belas. 2004. Dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) metabolism by Pfiesteria-associated Roseobacter spp. Appl. Environ. Microbiol. 70: 3383-3391.
Relevance: Both strains isolated from bacteria tightly associated with the dinoflagellate Pfiesteria piscicida. They active metabolize the dinoflagellate secondary product dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP), and are frequently found attached to dinoflagellate cells. They fall in the roseobacter clade, yet are taxonomically fairly distant from the dinoflagellate-associated Silicibacters.
Location Collected: Dinoflagellate culture
Depth (m):
Latitude*: n/a n/a
Longitude*: n/a n/a
