Purpose
This grant to the California Institute of Technology is to develop new techniques to characterize images taken from space to monitor long term changes in the Earth’s surface at fine spatial and temporal scales. Funding will support a core team to develop the technique, analyze large image datasets acquired by a suite of instruments over multiple decades, and apply them to two case studies to detect very small changes in the Earth’s surface due to seismic-volcanic and landslide processes.
