Indigenous People, Resource Management and Conservation

With this grant, Instituto del Bien Comun is using science-based research and geographic information system (GIS) mapping software to create improved management tools for the large natural landscapes of Peru. Outcomes include increased organizational capacity, a geo-referenced GIS-based cadastral map of Peru’s indigenous communities, assessment and management for the Pachitea River Basin (2.9 million hectares), and management for protection of 3.96 million acres of Amazonian rain forest in Loreto Department, Peru.
