Purpose
To support Caltech's Technology Tectonics Observatory in the second phase of developing a multidisciplinary facility that combines state-of-the-art monitoring networks and innovative observations at key tectonics boundaries with modeling of tectonic forces over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. The goal of the project is to understand and eventually predict the earth's behavior near the intersection of key tectonic plates and provide strategic insights into a variety of destructive phenomena such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, landslides, and other geochemical and geophysical processes.
